Srinagar, April 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani has strongly condemned the economic crackdown on local media, particularly some newspapers by Indian authorities in the territory.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said that throttling and curbing the media houses was part of the vast game plan and those thumping the chest to uphold the fourth pillar of democracy were themselves the architects of the undemocratic assault on media. He said, “Like every institution media people in IOK too have a strenuous and suffocating environment to carry out their professional duties and they too have been facing a double edged sword from the last so many decades.” »

Srinagar, April 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Islamic scholars and clerics across Kashmir have expressed anguish over the continued harassment of Hurriyat forum Chairman and Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema Patron, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq by the National Investigation Agency through repeated notices.

A statement issued by the Mutahida Majlis-e-Amal and the scholars also denounced the authorities for frequently imposing restrictions and disallowing prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar. »

Srinagar, April 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir Chairman, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai while paying tributes to Shopian martyrs has said that the precious human blood is being spilled in the territory every day because of unresolved Kashmir dispute.

The troops had martyred the youth, Rahil Rashid Sheikh and Bilal Ahmed, during a cordon and search operation at Padguchi in Imam Sahib area of Shopian district, yesterday. »

Srinagar, April 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Indian infamous National Investigation Agency (NIA) has summoned Dr Naeem Gilani, son of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, to its New Delhi headquarters in the name of questioning in a fake case on Tuesday.

Naeem Gilani has been asked to present himself at 10.30 am.

Naeem, a doctor by profession, is presently posted at a hospital in Srinagar.

Brussels, April 07 (KMS): The Chairman of Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU), Ali Raza Syed has praised a statement issued by All Party Parliamentary Group on Kashmir (APPGK) for supporting rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir particularly their right to self-determination.

In their joint statement APPGK President, Julie Ward (MEP) and Vice President, Klaus Buchner (MEP) said, they have been intensively following the politics in Kashmir and are convinced that the right for self- determination should no longer be denied to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. »

Srinagar, April 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a complete shutdown is being observed, today, in Ganderbal district against the killing of a local student.

Reports said that all the business establishments are closed while the traffic is also off the road. Heavy deployment of the Indian forces has also been made at all the sensitive points of the district to thwart any untoward incident.

The student was identified as Rahil Rashid Sheikh, an M.Tech student of Nunner area of Ganderbal district.

Srinagar, April 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders have strongly condemned the murderous attacks on Kashmiri prisoners in Srinagar central jail and termed this as the most barbaric incident in the resistance history of Kashmir.

Hurriyat leaders Shabbir Ahmed Dar, Mohammad Iqbal Mir, Imtiyaz Ahmed Reshi, Ghulam Nabi Wasim and Ghulam Nabi War in a joint statement in Srinagar said the United Nations have given rights to every prisoner and India is a signatory to that resolution but the Kashmiri prisoners of conscience are being deprived of these rights. »

Srinagar, April 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the patron of Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement (JKMM), Farida Bahenji has urged the people to completely boycott the upcoming sham polls and give a message to India and the world that the people of Kashmir have no interest in the election drama.

Farida Bahenji in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the people of Kashmir like past would reject the farcical elections as it is no alternative to the Kashmiris’ inalienable birthright to self-determination. »
