Brussels, April 07 (KMS): The Chairman of Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU), Ali Raza Syed has praised a statement issued by All Party Parliamentary Group on Kashmir (APPGK) for supporting rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir particularly their right to self-determination.

In their joint statement APPGK President, Julie Ward (MEP) and Vice President, Klaus Buchner (MEP) said, they have been intensively following the politics in Kashmir and are convinced that the right for self- determination should no longer be denied to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Referring to exploitation of Hindutva as an electoral tool by Modi government, the statement asked India to abstain from any (purely electoral) accusations, harassment and detention of the pro-freedom leadership in Kashmir.

The Kashmir Council EU Chairman in a statement issued in Brussels said the concerns of the Member of EUs parliament (MEPs) about use of excessive force by Indian military that leads to unlawful killings and a high number of injuries, many caused by pellet-firing shotguns, is highly noticeable.

As the EU parliament group urged a respect of human rights in Kashmir, Ali Raza Syed called upon the European Union to play its significant role for preventing human rights violations in Indian occupied Kashmir and for an acceptable resolution of Kashmir issue according to the wishes of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Welcoming the MEPs’ statement, the Chairman of KC-EU, Ali Raza Syed further said, there should be an international investigation into human rights violations in occupied Kashmir and all the criminals involved in human rights violations should also be trialed through the international court of law.

Ali Raza Syed called for a final political solution of Kashmir dispute through meaningful dialogue that includes the people of Kashmir and urged the international community including EU and UN to put pressure on India for implementation of UN resolutions on Kashmir.
