New Delhi, April 09 (KMS): The Chairman of Hurriyat forum Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that his forum will continue to seek peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute despite harassment by the Indian authorities.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who arrived in Delhi on Monday to appear before National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the name of being questioned in connection with a fake case registered against him, also appealed to the people of Kashmir back at home to maintain calm

“In Delhi today with my colleagues for the NIA summon, efforts to malign leadership for its political stand won’t work. In spite of harassment Hurriyat will continue to seek peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute,” Mirwaiz posted on Twitter. He urged the people back home to stay calm and peaceful.

According to media reports, Mirwaiz had informed the NIA that he was not acquainted with the subject matter of the FIR referred to in its notice and also added that the notice appeared to have been issued on the basis of fallacious assumptions and misinformation solely aimed at maligning him.

The NIA served three summonses to Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. He had not responded to the first two summonses citing security concerns in Delhi and had asked NIA to question him in Srinagar.

On third notice, Mirwaiz decided to appear before the NIA following an executive meeting of the Hurriyat forum in Srinagar.

Meanwhile, the NIA on Monday questioned Mirwaiz for nearly eight hours, officials said in New Delhi. He was asked to appear before the agency again today. Syed Naseem Geelani, the son of Syed Ali Gilani, will also appear before the NIA, today.
