Srinagar, April 12 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has said that the Indian government is using its agencies to put pressure on resistance leaders.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Thursday returned to Srinagar after being quizzed for four consecutive days by India’s infamous National Investigation Agency (NIA) in New Delhi.

Addressing a Friday congregation at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, today, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that he told the NIA that Kashmir dispute has to be resolved politically. He said Kashmiris are victims of pellet guns and people are being harassed on daily basis.

He said, “Our stand is based on truth. We won’t change it because of the use of force as it represents the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.” He said he is neither afraid of any threats and nor will succumb to any pressure.

Meanwhile, the Parwani-Wilayet spokesman in a statement in Srinagar termed the Indian parliamentary elections in the occupied territory as a useless exercise, saying that the sham elections were no substitute to the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

He urged the people of Kashmir to stay away from the election drama and pay no heed towards the hollow slogans of the Indian agents. He also appealed to the UN to take notice of human rights violations by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir and ask New Delhi to settle the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.
