Killing of teenage student in IOK strongly condemned

Srinagar, April 12 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani and other Hurriyat leaders and organizations have strongly condemned the killing of a teenage student, Owais Ahmed Mir, by Indian troops at Mandigam in Kupwara yesterday.

The student was killed when the troops opened fire on protesters in Langate area of Kupwara after the polling in the sham poll in Baramulla parliamentary constituency concluded, yesterday.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement in Srinagar said that Indian troops were working on a well-thought-out plan of Kashmiris’ genocide. He said that the occupation authorities resorted to brute force to make the election drama a success.

Appealing to the international community to take cognizance of the war-like situation prevailing in occupied Kashmir, he said their continued silence and turning eyes from the grave violations is rather disheartening. Their tall claims about safeguarding people’s rights prove futile, as no practicable steps are being taken to stop these gross human rights violations, he deplored.

The Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, in a statement in Srinagar denounced the killing of the teenager. He said the use of brute force against the protesters is highly condemnable and an open aggression. He said Kashmiris continue to get killed and maimed at the will of trigger-happy Indian forces.

Hurriyat leaders, Shabbir Ahmed Dar, Muhammad Iqbal Mir, Imtiyaz Ahmed Reshi, Ghulam Nabi War and Ghulam Nabi Waseem, in their statements strongly condemned the killing of 7th class student and termed it the worst example of Indian state terrorism in the territory.

A spokesman of Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party in his statement in Srinagar termed the killing of a teenage student by the troops as a shameful act. He said the day is not far when the killers will have to answer their each and every atrocity.

A spokesman of Islami Tanzeem-e-Azadi in a statement in Srinagar condemned the notice issued by India’s Enforcement Directorate to the two minor daughters of illegally detained senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, and described it frustration of the Indian authorities.
