Srinagar, April 13 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, has strongly condemned the shifting of Kashmiri political detainees lodged in Jammu jails to the jails of India and called it an action based on political vengeance.

Those who were shifted to the Indian jails include the President of Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr Abdul Hameed Fayaz, the Vice President of Jamiat Ahle Hadith, Mushtaq Ahmed Veeri, Mushtaq Ahmed Hurra, Bashir Ahmed Soliha, Shakeel Ahmed Pandit and Sami Ullah Butt besides other dozens of leaders and activists of political and religious organizations.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement in Srinagar also condemned slapping of draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA), on Sheikh Muhammad Ramzan, Javaid Khan, Rameez Ahmed Shah and Gulzar Ahmed Ganai and shifting them to Jammu jails.

He said all these inmates are being shifted to the Jammu jails to subject them to suppression and physical and mental torture which is a blatant violation of the basic rights of prisoners under the international law to which India is also a signatory. He said the move is not only against the principles of democracy but also a blatant violation of the guidelines of Supreme Court of India.

He appealed to the world human rights organisations to take cognizance of the inhuman methods being used by India to suppress the Kashmiris.
