Srinagar, April 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, has urged the people to observe complete election boycott and shutdown on Thursday (April 18) in poll bound areas of Srinagar, Badgam and Ganderbal.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said that on one hand, ruthless killings, unabated arrest spree, economic strangulation, vehicular restriction and enforced demographic changes through judicial onslaught were on their peak, while on the other, a vast military exercise under the veil of election was being thrust on the helpless Kashmiris just to strengthen India’s illegal occupation over Jammu and Kashmir. »

Only Kashmir solution can avert Pak-India clash
Srinagar, April 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has expressed serious concern over the escalating tension between Pakistan and India, especially in Poonch and Rajouri sectors resulting in immense human and other losses on the Line of Control.

The Hurriyat forum in a statement issued in Srinagar said the lingering Kashmir dispute is the bone of contention between the two countries and the bitterness would continue to prevail unless the dispute is resolved as per Kashmiris’ aspirations. The forum also demanded the rollback of the order about the Kashmir highway closure. »

Srinagar, April 16 (KMS): Avinash Paliwal, a lecturer and deputy director of the South Asia Institute at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, has said that India’s heavy-handed campaigns under multiple governments have increased alienation among the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Avinash Paliwal in a media interview in London said that the use of force to quell dissent in occupied Kashmir was not unique to the current Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP); the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance, which was in power from 2004 until 2014, also used similar tactics. »

Srinagar, April 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, unknown persons lobbed a grenade at the residence of pro-India National Conference leader in Tral area of Pulwama district, today.

The grenade was thrown towards the house of local NC leader, Mohammed Ashraf Butt, where a party workers meeting was organized for its candidate, Hasnain Masoodi, for Indian’s Lok Sabha seat from Islamabad district. »

Srinagar, April 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, family members of the prisoners lodged at Srinagar Central Jail staged a protest in Srinagar against threat to the life of the inmates.

The protest was held at Press Enclave in Srinagar, today. The family members said that the prisoners were not safe in the jail. They demanded that Srinagar Central Jail should not be turned into the Guantanamo jail, and the inmates should not be shifted to the jails outside the Kashmir valley. »

Srinagar, April 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a 13-year-old boy was crushed to death by an Indian army vehicle in Gulpore area of Poonch district on Tuesday afternoon.

The minor boy namely Sajjad Ahmed of Gulpore was injured critically after being hit by an army vehicle in the area.

He was immediately taken to district hospital Poonch where doctors declared him as brought dead. »
