Nocturnal raid by troops triggers demos in Budgam area » Kashmir Media Service

Srinagar, April 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, forceful protests erupted at Goripora in Beerwah area of Budgam district after Indian troops and police raided the village and tried to arrest youth.

Local residents told media that Indian troops and police personnel raided the village at around 12 am, last night, with the aim to arrest youth. However, they said that as the forces’ personnel jumped over the walls of some houses, the residents raised alarm, following which the villagers came out and pelted stones on the forces resulting in nocturnal clashes.

The locals said that the forces’ personnel used teargas shells to disperse the people. They said that after the raid was foiled by the local residents, the police and troops resorted to vandalisation of property and damaged private vehicles and smashed windowpanes of several houses.
