Srinagar, April 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the counsel for Mirwaiz-led Hurriyat forum leader, advocate Shahid-ul-Islam has urged the National Investigation Agency’s court to direct the jail authorities to provide medical treatment to his client.

The counsel in a letter to the NIA court special judge, Rakesh Syal, wrote, “Present application for interim bail has been filed on behalf of Shahid-ul-Islam in connection with a fake case.” »

India urged to hold plebiscite in Kashmir

Srinagar, April 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, forceful anti-India demonstrations broke out in Srinagar and Badgam districts, today, against the drama, enacted by India in the name of parliamentary elections in the territory.

Hundreds of people raising pro-freedom, anti-India and anti-election slogans marched on the streets of several poll-bound areas of Srinagar, Badgam and Ganderbal districts. Several people were injured when Indian troops fired bullets, pellets and teargas shells on the protesters.

Meanwhile, complete shutdown was observed in poll-bound districts — Srinagar, Badgam and Ganderbal. Call for the strike was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership to record protests against so-called elections. All shops and business establishments were closed while traffic was off the road. The authorities snapped mobile internet service. Train service was suspended in the Kashmir valley. »

Srinagar, April 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, has condemned the summoning of his son, Dr Nayeem Gilani, and the Chairman of Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA), Muhammad Yasin Khan, by India’s infamous National Investigation Agency (NIA) for questioning.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said such inhuman, undemocratic and unjustified acts of coercion can in no way change the ground situation of occupied Kashmir. Such brutal and psychological warfare has tarnished India’s own image of so-called democracy, he added. »

Paris, April 18 (KMS): The Paris-based media watchdog, Reporters Without Borders or Reporters Sans Frontiers (RSF) has said that the reportage from journalists working for local media outlets in occupied Kashmir are often the targets of violence by Indian paramilitary forces acting with the tacit consent of the Indian government.

The RSF in its 2019 report said that occupied Kashmir continued to be very difficult place for the journalists to perform their professional duties. Foreign reporters are barred from entering Kashmir and the internet is often disconnected there, it said. »

Srinagar, April 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed in poll-bound areas of Central Kashmir, today, to protest against the holding of so-called Indian Parliamentary elections.

Call for the shutdown has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership. Srinagar, April 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court Bar Association (HCBA) has reiterated its stance that holding of sham elections in the territory is a futile exercise.

The HCBA in a statement issued in Srinagar said the elections drama in the territory has benefitted only those who are interested in the prolonging of the settlement of the Kashmir dispute. It said until Kashmir dispute is resolved in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, there will be no peace in the region. »

Srinagar, April 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), has strongly condemned the issuance of summon to Sama Shabbir, the daughter of illegally detained party Chairman Shabbir Ahmed Shah, by India’s Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Sama Shabbir topped the 12th class examination in May last year. ED has issued summon to Sama directing her to appear before it. »

Jammu, April 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Movement (JKFM), Muhammad Sharif Sartaj, has denounced the attack on the owner of a restaurant, Tauseef Ahmed, by activists of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bhaderwah town of Doda district in Jammu region.

Muhammad Sharif Sartaj in a statement issued in Jammu said that the BJP activists attacked Tauseef Ahmed, the owner of Zaiqa Restaurant in Bhaderwah, when he was coming back after delivering an order to a customer. He said the BJP attackers in a street severely tortured him and latter people took him to hospital for treatment. The situation of Bhaderwah is tense after the incident. »
