Srinagar, April 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court Bar Association (HCBA) has reiterated its stance that holding of sham elections in the territory is a futile exercise.

The HCBA in a statement issued in Srinagar said the elections drama in the territory has benefitted only those who are interested in the prolonging of the settlement of the Kashmir dispute. It said until Kashmir dispute is resolved in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, there will be no peace in the region.

The HCBA said India should withdraw its troops and hold an impartial plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir so that the Kashmiri people can decide their future and peace, tranquility and prosperity of the region is ensured.

Meanwhile, in HCBA Executive Committee meeting in Srinagar, the members expressed serious concern over the deteriorating health condition of prisoners languishing in Central Jail, Srinagar. They said the prisoners have gone on hunger strike for not allowing their relatives to meet them and registering false and fictitious cases against them by the authorities.

The participants of the meeting demanded that the detainees must be allowed to meet their relatives and the false cases registered against them should be withdrawn.
