Jammu, April 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM), a constituent of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, has said that so-called elections under the Indian Constitution will never be an alternative to the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

APHC leader and the JKPM Chairman, Mir Shahid Saleem, in a statement in Jammu said that the sham polls in the territory had never been and would never be the goal of the martyrs’ sacrifices.

He said pro-India political parties in occupied Kashmir first seek votes in the name of development and basic amenities and later project the same as vote for India. He said political parties like National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party and Peoples Conference have proved to be major stumbling block in the way of the settlement of the Kashmir dispute.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat leader, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, in a statement in Srinagar paid rich tributes to prominent martyred freedom leader, S Hameed Wani, on his martyrdom anniversary. He said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs would not go waste and the people of Kashmir would take their mission to its logical conclusion.

The Islami Tanzeem-e-Azadi spokesman in a statement in Srinagar urged the UN General Secretary to impress upon India to release all illegally detained Kashmiri political prisoners languishing in different jails of India and the territory. He also appealed to the World Body to take notice of the deteriorating health condition of illegally detained party Chairman, Abdul Samad Inqilabi, at Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu.
