Srinagar, April 19 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has criticized the Government of India for suspending the trade cross the Line of Control (LoC).
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq addressing a Friday congregation at historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, today, said that India was snapping the contact between the divided families across the LoC. He said that such measures were being taken for short term gains and would cost a huge price for the people of Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Hurriyat leader, Javaid Ahmad Mir, addressing a gathering at Bye-Pass HMT in Srinagar expressed concern over the plight of illegally detained Hurriyat leaders including Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmed Shah and Aasiya Andrabi. He said that India had usurped all democratic rights of Kashmiri people but the international community had become a mute spectator.
He said that India had promised to the people of Kashmir that they would be given their birthright to self-determination but despite the passage of several decades commitment remained unfulfilled. He appealed to the international community to play its role in the settlement of the lingering Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.
