New Delhi, April 20 (KMS): The illegally detained Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik, was admitted in a hospital in New Delhi in a serious condition after his health deteriorated during hunger strike in the custody of India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Yasin Malik is in NIA’s custody in New Delhi in connection with a false case registered against him.

Yasin Malik’s family members said that they were told by the authorities in Delhi, where they had gone to meet him, that he had begun hunger strike. “It’s 12th days he is on hunger strike and has been shifted to a hospital in a serious condition,” they said. The family members said that they were told that he had been shifted to medical facility in a serious condition where he rejected to take medicines as well.

Meanwhile, a JKLF spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, said Muhammad Yasin Malik is in a serious condition in Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi. He said that Yasin Malik’s counsel was to meet him today as per Delhi court orders but was yester night contacted and informed by the NIA officials that the proposed meeting was cancelled. “However, today in the morning he was again contacted by the officials and asked to come to the said hospital where he found that Yasin Malik is on hunger strike,” he added.

The spokesman maintained that party Chairman had started the hunger strike against the callous approach of the NIA on 10th of this month, the next day when he was shifted to New Delhi and handed over to the investigating agency. He said that Yasin Malik was shifted to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Delhi, after his health got deteriorated just four days before where he was still on hunger strike in a very serious condition.

The spokesman warned India of serious consequences if anything untoward happened to the JKLF Chairman. He said that for it being a great cause of concern to the Kashmiri people in general and to the party in particular cannot be set aside; therefore the party has decided to launch a vigorous campaign against the NIA’s callous approach and against the continued Indian state terrorism in occupied Kashmir.

The spokesman said the JKLF will hold a two day hunger strike camp in Islamabad, Pakistan, on Thursday and Friday, and will stage a five day long sit-in from 28th of April outside the Indian High Commission in London, UK. He said similar protests will be organized throughout the world in front of Indian Embassies by the party leaders and activists. Protest demonstrations will also be held in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
