Srinagar, April 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the authorities booked two more youth under black law Public Safety Act (PSA) in Islamabad district.

The youth, Mohammad Yousuf Chopan and Suhail Salam Sheikh, were booked under the draconian law and were shifted to Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu.

A police officer confirmed that the youth were booked under the PSA for being involved in anti-India and pro-freedom activities. Family members of the detainees refuted the police claim and said that the youth were innocent and were booked under false cases.

On the other hand, Anti-Corruption Court Srinagar sentenced the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Shah Lateef one year in jail in a case registered against him in 2004.

The Special Judge Anti-Corruption Court Srinagar, R N Wattal, sentenced the former DC, Shah Lateef, to one-year imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2 lakh. “In default thereof, he will further undergo 6 months of imprisonment,” the court added.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Islami Tanzeem-e-Azadi in a statement issued in Srinagar denounced the authorities for not presenting its incarcerated chairman, Abdul Samad Inqilabi, before a Srinagar court on the date of the hearing of a case against him, yesterday.
