Holds hunger strike camps, demos against Indian atrocities in IOK

Srinagar, April 26 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Acting Chairman, Abdul Hamid Butt, has paid glowing tributes to JKLF founder leader, Amanullah Khan, on his third death anniversary.

Abdul Hamid Butt in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, termed Amanullah Khan as a legend, visionary and symbol of unity. He said that Amanullah Khan was a noble son of soil who from his youth till the time of his demise stood firm against India’s illegal occupation of his land and despite numerous challenges and hardships never budged or compromised on his principles or ideology.

Abdul Hamid Butt said that Amanullah Khan was the first Kashmiri to address a press conference and present the case of Kashmiris to the international community at the UN office in New York and even distributed pamphlets regarding Kashmiri freedom struggle during Indian delegation head’s address at the General Assembly.

Meanwhile, on the occasion of third death anniversary of Amanullah Khan, JKLF leaders and activists across globe organized hunger strike camps to protest against the reign of terror unleashed by extremist fascist Modi regime against the unarmed Kashmiris. These protest hunger strike camps were held to protest against arrest of JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, by India’s notorious National Investigation Agency (NIA), shifting him to Delhi’s Tihar Jail under frivolous charges, ill-treatment meted out to him during interrogation against which he had to go on a hunger strike, imposition of illegal and dictatorial ban on JKLF and Jamaat-e-Islami in occupied Kashmir, spree of arrests, aggression unleashed by NIA, and summoning of the APHC Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani’s two sons and a grandson, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and many others including senior trade union leaders by the NIA.

The holding of hunger strike camps was also aimed at registering protest against the continued incarceration of many resistance leaders including Aasiya Andrabi, Fehmeeda Sofi and Naheeda Nasreen at Tihar Jail, summoning of two young daughters of incarcerated senior APHC leader Shabbir Ahmed Shah, by Enforcement Directorate of India, prolonged incarceration of thousands of Kashmiris languishing in the jails of occupied Kashmir and India and against other oppressive tactics used by Indian colonial mindset to crush the Kashmiris’ resistance movement.

A two day long hunger strike camp was held in this connection outside National Press Club Islamabad, Pakistan, in which various JKLF leaders including Salim Haroon, Hafiz Anwar Samavi, Rafiq Ahmed Dar, Raja Haq Nawaz Khan, Sajjad Siddiqui, Khawaja Manzoor Ahmed Chishti, Khursheed Ahmed Mirza, Sardar Jamshaid, Sardar Anwar Advocate, Tanveer Aziz, Qari Samiuddin, Saleem Butt, Mohammad Salim Abbasi, Haji Ibrahim and others also participated.

Several dignitaries from All Parties Hurriyat Conference, politicians from Azad Kashmir including former Prime Minister AJK Sardar Attique Khan, former President Sardar Muhammad Yakoob Khan, Peoples Party leader Chowdhary Lateef Akbar, Hurriyat AJK leaders, Syed Abdullah Gilani, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Mir Tahir Masood, Shaikh Abdul Mateen, Shaikh Muhammad Yaqoob, Hassan Al-Bana, Abdul Hameed Lone, Daud Khan, Shahzad Iqbal, Zahid Asharf, Khurshid Mir, senior journalists Irshad Mehmood, Sheikh Tajamul-ul-Islam, Zahid Tabbasum, Aamir Mehmood, ex-chairman of Hilal-e-Ahmar Azad Kashmir Sheikh Hamid, Owais-ul-Islam and others also visited the hunger strike camp and addressed participants in the concluding session held today.

Similar camps were held at Press Club Karachi, Mirpur and Rawlakot in which various senior leaders Sajjid Siddiqui, Khawaja Parvez Iqbal, Aftab Chaacha, Saad Ansari, Sardar Rashid Khan, S M Ibrahim, Haji Ibrahim, Mohammad Haroon and others participated.

JKLF leaders and Kashmiris living in Europe today held a protest sit-in in Brussels Belgium against the ill-treatment meted out to JKLF Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik by India. Party leaders including Chowdhry Tanveer Ahmad, Masood Iqbal Mir, Shabir Ahmad, Mushtaq Deewan, Sardar Zahid Hussain, Mushtaq Pasha and Sardar Naseem Iqbal participated in this protest program.

A delegation of JKLF comprising Chowdary Tanveer and Hafiz Muhammad Mazhar Naeemi met with the chairman of famous human rights institution of Helsinki Finland namely FINGO and apprised him about the gross human rights violations by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir and also informed him about the condition of incarcerated JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik.

Similar programs are scheduled to be held outside the Indian High Commission in London which would be participated by JKLF leaders, Professor Zafar Khan, Syed Tehseen Gilani, liyaqat Ali Lone and others. In Saudi-Arabia, UAE and Qatar, JKLF leaders Khalid Kashmiri, Shafiq Malik, Sardar Salim Aftab, Aamir Chishti, Sardar Abid, Niyaz Kashmiri, Hafiz Mumtaz, Abdul Majeed Butt and others are scheduled to participate. Similar protest programs are being held In the US and Hon-Kong which would be led by JKLF leaders.
