Srinagar, April 27 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, has denounced the continued illegal detention of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, and further extension in his judicial remand.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “The continued detention of Yasin Malik can prove fatal for his already deteriorated health.”

He also condemned India’s infamous National Investigation Agency (NIA) for summons to son of illegally detained party leader, Altaf Ahmed Shah, and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) notice to the daughter of senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, terming it as frustration of the Indian government.

The Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman said the harassment of family members of jailed leaders is vengeful and inhuman act. He said the Indian government is using its agencies against Kashmiri resistance leaders as a tool to suppress the ongoing freedom struggle which is in fact its sole aim.

Ashraf Sehrai expressed concern over the deteriorating health of Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) leader, Fehmeeda Sofi in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail. “She is suffering from severe arthritis and unable to move herself now. Health condition of Peer Saifullah, who is a brain tumor patient, is also worsening. Despite such dangerous ailments, the authorities are not providing them proper medical assistance which is a brazen violation of prisoners’ rights,” he said.

He said all prisoners should be treated with respect due to their inherent dignity, political belief and value as human beings and they must have access to the health services without discrimination.

Ashraf Sehrai also expressed solidarity with the illegally detained Kashmiris including resistance leaders and activists Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Ayaz Muhammad Akbar, Merajuddin Kalwal, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Shahid Yousuf and a prominent businessman Zahoor Ahmed Watali who were arrested by the NIA and ED.

Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman appealed to the international community and world human rights organizations to conduct a thorough visit of jails in India and occupied Kashmir and take stock of the inhuman treatment meted out to the Kashmiri prisoners.

Meanwhile, a spokesman of Islami Tanzeem-e-Azadi in a statement condemned extension in judicial remand of JKLF Chairman, Yasin Malik, NIA summon to Altaf Shah’s son and the ED notice to daughter of DFP Chairman, Shabbir Shah. He also expressed concern over declining health of DeM leader, Fehmeeda Sofi, in Tihar Jail.
