P Chidambaram asks Delhi to examine its behaviour to Pakistan

Srinagar, April 22 (KMS): The former Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Deependra Singh Hooda while admitting growing anger and alienation in the Kashmir valley against India has asked for adopting an empathetic “approach towards the population and a clearly defined political objective.”

Lt. Gen. Hooda talking to media persons on the sidelines of a seminar said, “Very often we had a separate political and military strategy towards Kashmir and that is why very often we hear that military has brought the security situation under control in Kashmir but politics has not followed. We need a combined and comprehensive politico-military strategy based on a political objective… I think we have not been able to give a well-crafted narrative to the people in the valley that we care,” The Hindu quoted Hooda as saying. »

Says NIA handed Malik half dead to Delhi police

Srinagar, April 22 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Kashmiri human rights activist, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo has expressed fear that ailing Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik could be assassinated in the present circumstances.

Muhammad Ahsan Untoo in a statement issued in Srinagar while giving details of the events that unfolded since Muhammad Yasin Malik was arrested, said he was given into the custody of India’s infamous National Investigation Agency till April 22, but his condition worsened after he was subjected to physical torture during the custody. »

Srinagar, April 22 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, unknown persons on Monday hurled grenade towards Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) office in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

An official said the grenade was hurled at the office of SSP Sopore near main gate town hall, but it missed the target and exploded outside the gate. »

Jammu, April 22 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a new organization in the name of Jammu and Kashmir Youth Forum for Justice Party (JKYFJP) has been constituted to champion the peaceful settlement of the Kashmir dispute.

The JKYFJP will take along the youth community of the territory for further improving the political, social and moral situation of Kashmir

The JKYFJP considers the United Nations Kashmir resolutions only source and way for settlement of Kashmir dispute and will convey its voice for peaceful resolution of Kashmir.

The organization will arrange seminars, workshops and other functions irrespective of religious prejudice to promote peace and tranquility in the territory.

The JKYFJP will set up its offices in all the districts of the Jammu region. It will form special teams for assisting poor and deserving people.

The speakers urged the administration to stop use of brute force especially on the people of Valley and release all illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists languishing in different jails of India and the territory.

Muhammad Yasin Malik was shifted from an illegal custody of India’s infamous National Investigation Agency (NIA) to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital (RMLH) in New Delhi after his condition deteriorated, the other day. He is on hunger strike against the illegal and obnoxious attitude of the National Investigation Agency (NIA). »

Srinagar, April 22 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Joint Resistance Leadership has called for a valley-wide protest shutdown, tomorrow, against the ill-treatment meted out to the ailing and incarcerated Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik by India’s infamous National Investigation Agency in New Delhi.

The resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Muhammad Umar Farooq and Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, said the shutdown is also against the ongoing aggression against Kashmiri resistance leaders, activists, senior businessmen, trade union leaders and relatives of resistance leaders by NIA and Enforcement Directorate. »

India in breach of int’l law on political prisoners
Srinagar, April 21 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani has urged the people to boycott the third phase of Indian parliamentary elections in Islamabad constituency, to be held on Tuesday

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, also called for a complete strike in the poll-bound areas of the constituency on the day. The boycott is aimed at conveying a strong message to the world that Jammu and Kashmir is a political dispute and the election drama being staged in the territory by India could not be an alternative to the right to self-determination for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said the participation in such elections will amount to betrayal of the sacred blood of martyrs as Indian imperialistic mindset is trying to hoodwink the Indian people and the international community by portraying these elections as a substitute to the Kashmiris’ inalienable right. »
