Mirwaiz, Sehrai & others denounce arrests
Srinagar, May 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian forces continuing their massive crackdown arrested more than six dozen people in South Kashmir ahead of the fifth and final phase of sham Indian parliamentary elections scheduled in Pulwama and Shopian on Monday.

Over 60 people were arrested in Gudoora, Newa, Tahab, Parigam, Chewakalan and Murran areas of Pulwama district. Six youth were arrested from Vehil and Narwah areas of Shopian district. The arrests were made just days ahead of the so-called Indian parliamentary elections on Islamabad’s Lok Sabha seat to be held on Monday. »

Jammu, May 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Movement (JKFM), Muhammad Sharif Sartaj has said that the sham Indian parliamentary election is nothing but a military exercise and in no way can be alternative to Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

Muhammad Sharif Sartaj in a statement issued in Jammu said that like past, the people of Kashmir rejected the recent farcical elections by staying away from the poll process. He said Kashmiris gave a clear message to India and the rest of the world that they have no interest the so-called elections but wanted only their right to self-determination. »

Srinagar, May 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders have strongly condemned the reign of terror unleashed by Indian forces in Pulwama and Shopian for the past many days.

The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference, Shabbir Ahmad Dar, Mohammad Iqbal Mir, Imtiyaz Ahmed Reshi, Ghulam Nabi War and Ghulam Nabi Wasim in their statements said that the mass arrest of youth, nocturnal raids and harassment had created fear among the whole population and people had been forced to migrate to other areas.

They said the people of Kashmir have rejected the sham election in the territory and would also stay away from the third phase of polling for Islamabad parliamentary constituency scheduled on May 6. »

Taking to Twitter, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq strongly condemned the daily arrest spree of youth from Pulwama and Shopian.

In his tweet he said, “Continued repression in South Kashmir is heart rending. Unless all those who claim to speak for fundamental human rights of all don’t speak up, people of Kashmir will continue to be at the receiving end.” »

Srinagar, May 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the illegally detained journalist, Aasif Sultan, who was arrested last year by Indian police, featured among this month’s list of the 10 ‘Most Urgent’ threats to press freedom across the globe.

The list – released monthly by the One Free Press Coalition, which was founded by a dozen news organizations including TIME, with the goal of defending journalists under attack – identifies 10 of the most severe examples of threats to press freedom around the world. New Delhi, May 02 (KMS): In a bid to further its hegemonic designs, India will acquire two more PHALCON airborne warning and control systems (AWACS) aircraft from Israel.

Media reports suggest that the Indian Defence Ministry moved the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) for acquisition of two more AWACS aircraft just days before the aerial clash between the Indian Air Force (IAF) and Pakistan Air Force (PAF) in February, this year. PAF had shot down two Indian fighter aircrafts and captured a Wing Commander of IAF after they violated the Pakistani airspace along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir on February 27. The deal is worth around $ 2 billion, with the radar mounted on Russian platform. »

Srinagar, May 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, has strongly condemned the arrest of over three dozen youth by Indian forces in South Kashmir’s Pulwama and Shopian districts ahead of sham Indian parliamentary elections.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar said that India was pushing the Kashmiri youth to the wall. The Indian forces have created a sense of insecurity among innocent youth in the occupied territory particularly in South Kashmir, he added. He said that India continued to ignore the basic reality and ground situation in Kashmir. »
