Srinagar, May 03 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has strongly denounced the mass arrests of youth during nocturnal raids in various areas of Pulwama and Shopian districts.

The Hurriyat forum spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the harassment caused to the people in the dead of night and whisking away a large number of youth reflected open aggression of the occupation authorities against the people of Kashmir.

He said that many of the detained youth were minors and students who had been picked up on mere suspicion and put behind the bars or asked to report in police stations.

The spokesman said that people in the occupied territory were facing tremendous hardships and their miseries instead of fading away were increasing manifold with each passing day. He said if any person raises voice against the atrocities being committed by the Indian forces’ personnel, he is booked under frivolous charges.

He urged the world bodies to take serious note of the prevailing situation in occupied Kashmir and play role in mitigating the pain and miseries of the people of the territory.

The spokesman said that the people of Kashmir were not demanding anything new but fulfillment of the promises made to them by the Indian leadership before the world community that the Kashmir dispute would be resolved according to the aspirations of the Kashmiris.
