JI IOK denounces shifting of advocate Zahid Ali to Jammu jail

Srinagar, May 06 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Jamaat-e-Islami has strongly denounced the shifting of its chief spokesman, Advocate Zahid Ali, from Srinagar Central Jail to Kotbhalwal jail in Jammu, terming it a grave violation of prisoners’ rights.

The Jamaat-e-Islami in a statement issued in Srinagar appealed to the international human rights organizations to break their silence and take effective measures for upholding the fundamental rights of prisoners.

“Authorities on Friday resorted to grave violation of prisoners’ rights while shifting party chief spokesman, Advocate Zahid Ali along with several detainees from Central Jail Srinagar to Kotbhalwal Jammu. This exercise clearly depicts the autocratic, dictatorial and barbaric outlook of the authorities,” the party said.

Meanwhile, the President of Jammu and Kashmir Youth Forum for Justice, Malik Irshad has strongly condemned the Indian forces for torturing a poor labourer of Bakarwal community, Muhammad Ayub of Naagseena Chach Block, Kishtwar district.

Malik Irshad in a statement in Jammu said that such actions by the Indian forces would further deteriorate the already fragile situation in the territory.
