Signature camp on Kashmir ends in Dublin

Srinagar, May 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, traders and transporters continued their protest for the second consecutive day, today, against the ruthless Indian government’s decision to levy toll tax on all types of vehicles plying on Srinagar-Jammu highway.

The protesting traders and transporters assembled outside the office of Deputy Commissioner Islamabad and staged protest against the India’s latest anti-Kashmiri move. A memorandum submitted to the Deputy Commissioner on the occasion said that the decision would add to the worries of the Kashmiri people, who are already suffering from a shattered economy. The toll is being collected by India’s National Highways Authority in Sangam area of Islamabad district. »

Srinagar, May 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, traders and transporters on Wednesday staged a strong protest against Indian government’s decision to impose toll tax on all types of vehicles plying on Srinagar-Jammu highway.

The toll is being collected by India’s National Highways Authority at the toll Post Kachkoot Fee Plaza in Sangam area of south Kashmir’s Islamabad district. »

Srinagar, May 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian forces on Wednesday launched a cordon and search operation in Gohan area Baramulla district.

A joint team of Indian army’s 46 Rashtriya Rifles, Special Operation Group of Indian police and 53 Battalion of Central Reserve Police Force is participating in the operation in Gohan village.

A large number of forces’ personnel have cordoned off the village and are conducting door-to-door searches.

Srinagar, May 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, chaired a joint meeting of Awami Action Committee (AAC), Anjuman-e-Auqaf (AeA) Jamia Masjid and Anjuman-e-Nusratul Islam (ANI) in Srinagar to finalize the programmes in connection with the upcoming Martyrdom Week (Hafta-e-Shahadat) commencing from May 16.

The Martyrdom Week is observed to pay glowing tributes to prominent martyred Hurriyat leaders, Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq and Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone and the victims of Hawal massacre of May 21, 1990. Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at his residence in Srinagar on 21st of May 1990. 70 mourners were killed in Hawal area of the city when Indian troops opened fire on his funeral procession. On the same day, in 2002, Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone was killed by unknown assailants when he was returning from Eidgah after addressing a public gathering. »

Srinagar, May 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leader, Farooq Ahmed Tawheedi, visited Dogripora area of Pulwama and expressed solidarity with the family members of prominent martyred freedom activist, Muhammad Lateef Dar.

Indian troops had martyred Muhammad Lateef Dar along with and his two colleagues during a cordon and search operation in Imam Sahib area of Shopian district last Friday. Lateef Dar was a close associate of prominent martyred youth leader, Burhan Wani, whose extrajudicial killing on July 08, 2016 in Kokernag area of Islamabad district had triggered the ongoing mass uprising in the occupied territory. »

Dublin, May 08 (KMS): A team of Kashmir Council Europe (KCEU) arrived in Dublin, the capital of Ireland, in connection with the widespread awareness movement on Kashmir’s issue titled ‘One Million Signature Campaign’.

A large number of Irish people took interest in the campaign and made their signature in order to express solidarity with the oppressed people of occupied Kashmir. The two-day signature camp at a central street in Dublin continued till Tuesday.

The EU based campaign was first launched in Belgium a few years ago and so far, a large number the people in different European countries have signed the documents of the signature drive.

Local NGOs and social activists based in different European countries supported the move and held camps in the context in the host countries. »

Jammu, May 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, apathy of Indian authorities to the miseries of passengers on Srinagar-Jammu highway has forced the dwellers around the highway to do something on their own to mitigate the sufferings of the passengers, every now and then.

The members of Masjid Allah-U-Akbar committee on Wednesday sought donations for the purchase of a piece of land in the Jammu region of the highway for construction of a mosque to shelter passengers during the road closure. The land has cost around Rs 350,000.

The committee members said that during the highway closure in winters at least four thousand passengers will be adjusted in the mosque. They appealed people to contribute for the construction of the mosque.

Jammu, May 08 (KMS): Obsessed with war hysteria, Narendra Modi-led government has nodded the purchase of multibillion dollars Russian-origin upgraded T-90 `Main Battle Tanks’ to be deployed along the Western frontiers with Pakistan, especially on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

Indian defense official told media in Jammu that the process for procurement of upgraded T-90 Main Battle Tanks, which have been named as ‘Bhishma’ has been set into motion by the Indian Defence Ministry after nod to the project by the Cabinet Committee on Security. The purchases were estimated to cost more than $ 15 billion. »

Srinagar, May 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, an Indian army-backed gunman, who has been shielded by the army for the past 23 years after killing of seven members of a family, was eventually arrested by police.

A police official in a statement issued in Srinagar said, a police party associated with Sumbal police station arrested the person namely Wali Mohammad Mir of Saderkoot Bala, Bandipora.

“The accused Wali Mohammad Mir was evading his arrest from last 23 years and was arrested from village Barwala Kangan,” he said.

The Indian army-backed gunman is involved in the brutal murder of seven persons – five men and two women and injuring five others of Saderkoot Bala village on October 05, 1996. Several warrants were issued by the District and Sessions court Judge Bandipora but the accused has been hiding at some ‘unknown’ location till now. »

Srinagar, May 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, while felicitating Muslims on the commencement of holy month of Ramadan, has said that the month of fasting is an exercise of not only Ibadat (worship) but teaches its followers to look onto overall social wellbeing of society.

Syed Ali Gilani, who was discharged from hospital the other day, in a statement in Srinagar said, “Islam is a complete way of life which guides mankind in every sphere be it economy, politics, education or nation building, peace or war, individual or collective interests, it is a solution for every problem. But alas! Its own followers have divided and subdivided it into bits and pieces making themselves an easy prey for its opponents.” »
