JKPM condemns inhuman behaviour with detainees in jails » Kashmir Media Service

Jammu, May 09 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM), a constituent of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, has strongly condemned the inhuman treatment meted out to the illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists in jails.

The JKPM Chairman, Mir Shahid Saleem, in a statement issued in Jammu said that India was victimizing the Hurriyat leaders on one pretext or the other to suppress the ongoing freedom movement.

Referring to the press conference by the family of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, he said that Yasin Malik was suffering from several ailments and had been kept in jail without medical facilities due to which his health was deteriorating with each passing day.

Mir Shahid Saleem said that similar was the position of Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Ayaz Akbar and other Hurriyat leaders languishing in New Delhi’s Tihar jai.

He said that as 20 and 30 years old fake cases were being re-opened against the Hurriyat leaders, justice could not be expected from the Indian judiciary.

He appealed to the international human rights organizations to play role in halting Indian brutalities on the innocent people of Kashmir and settling the lingering Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.
