IOK authorities order closure of colleges, schools in Sopore » Kashmir Media Service

Srinagar, May 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, fearing students’ protests against the killing of a youth by Indian troops, the occupation authorities ordered the closure of educational institutes in Sopore town of Baramulla district, today.

The troops martyred the youth, Ishfaq Ahmed Sofi, during a cordon and search operation in Amshipora area of Shopian, yesterday. The martyred belonged to Model Town area to Sopore.

Officials said that the decision for closure of the educational institutions had been made as a precautionary measure. They said the class-work in Government Degree College, Government Boys Higher Secondary School and Government Girls Higher Secondary School shall remain suspended, today.

Meanwhile, complete shutdown is being observed in Sopore town and its adjoining areas for the second consecutive day, today, against the killing of the youth. The killing had triggered forceful demonstrations in Sopore town, yesterday.
