Srinagar, May 13 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani has condemned the judicial onslaught against the Hurriyat leaders and their family members.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said that on May 9, 2019 the bail applications of Syed Shakeel Ahmad and Syed Shahid, sons of a prominent freedom leader and the chief of mujahid organization Hizbul Mujahideen,

Citing the example of Indian judiciary, he said the rejection of the bail by Indian Supreme Court, which was granted by Delhi High Court in favour of Kashmiri businessman, Zahoor Ahmad Watali, was not only surprising but puts a big question mark on the free and fair legal system of world’s so-called largest democracy. Although in past also our people have faced the biased judicial system to satisfy their collective conscious, but recent media outburst of four senior Supreme Court judges, speaks volumes of favoritism and political influence in Indian judiciary, he added.

He said Indian rulers have themselves made a joke of their so-called democracy and court decisions are influenced by the region and faith of the accused amounting to gross judicial activism.

The APHC Chairman said the sad state of affairs of Indian judicial system against Kashmiris has never been any surprise though, but off late the so-called justice providing system has been turned redundant when it come to giving justice to Kashmiris. Be it judicial-political murder of Mohammad Maqbool Butt or murder of Mohammad Afzal Guru who was hanged and “I quote the Supreme Court of India that “It is to satisfy the collective conscious of Indians.” He said now to satisfy that ever thirsty collective conscious of Indian masses, innocent Kashmiries are being kept behind bars on fictitious and fabricated cases and even denied bails. Cases against Kashmiri prisoners listed for arguments are cancelled, not even fair judicial processes and procedures are being followed by the very organs of judiciary.

He appealed to the international community, prisoners’ rights forums and human rights bodies to compel Indian authorities to, at least honour and obey their own laws and stop the revengeful attitude towards the political prisoners.
