Srinagar, May 13 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, South Kashmir Transporters Association has called for a complete shutdown tomorrow against the levying of toll tax by India’s National Highways Authority on the Srinagar-Jammu highway.
The toll is being collected by NHAI at toll post Kachkoot Sangam in Bijbhara area of Islamabad district.
Bilal Ahmad Dar, President Sumo and Temp owners Union, said that a meeting of South Kashmir Transporters Association was held, which was attended by members of all the associations. “It was unanimously decided to observe a one-day shutdown on May 14 keeping in view the holy month of Ramadan,” he said.
“We called for only one-day strike in wake of the holy month of Ramadan. Otherwise if the authorities fail to do away with levying toll tax on locals across Jammu and Kashmir, we will go for an indefinite strike,” he said.
