Srinagar, May 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, has strongly condemned the Indian government’s directive asking students from the territory not to take admission in educational institutions in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “Students in every part of the world have all the rights to choose what school or professional and academic college to go to and why. But when it comes to Kashmir, it is all together a different story. Even education here is driven by repressive politics and outrageous directives by the Indian government and its agencies.” »

Calls for complete shutdown in IOK on May 21

Srinagar, May 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Awami Action Committee (AAC), headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has announced various programs in connection with Hafta-e-Shahadat (Martyrdom Week) to mark the martyrdom anniversaries of prominent Hurriyat leaders, Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq and Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone as well as victims of Hawal massacre.

Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at his residence in Srinagar on 21st of May in 1990. More than 70 mourners were killed in Hawal area of the city when Indian troops opened fire on his funeral procession. On the same day, in 2002, Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone was killed by unknown assailants when he was returning from Eidgah after addressing a public gathering. »

Srinagar, May 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the family of illegally detained Kashmiri youth, Peerzada Muhammad Ashraf, has expressed concern about his safety as the Indian police have not produced him in court during the last six months.

The family of Peerzada Muhammad Ashraf says that he remains illegally detained for more than a decade now even when he has already been granted bail in all the cases. The family says that over a decade they have already spent more than two million rupees on his court case to prove his innocence. »

Authorities impose curfew in Pulwama

Srinagar, May 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh acts of state terrorism martyred five Kashmiri youth in Pulwama and Baramulla districts.

The troops martyred three youth, Naseer Pandit, Umar Mir and Khalid Ahmed, and destroyed a residential house during a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Dalipora area of Pulwama district in wee hours, today. Another youth identified as Rayees Ahmed Dar was martyred and his brother, Younis Ahmed Dar, was injured in the firing of the troops in the area. They are believed to be the sons of the house owner. Earlier, one Indian soldier was killed and two others were critically injured in the same area. The operation was going on till last report came in. »
