Srinagar, May 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Martyrdom Week commenced, today, with the recitation of holy Quran and special prayers at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar and all the district and tehsil headquarters of Awami Action Committee.

The Martyrdom Week is being observed to pay tributes to prominent Hurriyat leaders, Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq and Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone as well as victims of Hawal massacre on their martyrdom anniversaries. Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at his residence in Srinagar on 21st of May in 1990. More than 70 mourners were killed in Hawal area of the city when Indian troops opened fire on his funeral procession. On the same day, in 2002, Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone was killed by unknown assailants when he was returning from Eidgah after addressing a public gathering. »

Kashmiris being victimized for their political beliefs

Srinagar, May 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh acts of state terrorism martyred four Kashmiri youth in Pulwama and Baramulla districts, today.

The troops martyred three youth, Showkat Ahmed Dar, Irfan Ahmed and Muzaffar Ahmed, during a cordon and search operation in Panzgam area of Pulwama district in the wee hours, today. The troops also blasted a house in the area with explosive material. The troops martyred another youth during a similar operation in Hatlangoo area of Sopore in Baramulla district. Forceful demonstrations erupted at Panzgam against the killing of the youth. Indian forces’ personnel fired pellets and teargas shells to disperse the protesters, triggering clashes. The occupation authorities snapped internet service in Awantipora and its adjoining areas and in Sopore town. The authorities continued to suspend train service in south Kashmir for the 2nd consecutive day, today. »

Noor Muhammad Kalwal was arrested by police on April 30, 2019 and from then he was lodged at police station, Kothi-bagh. »

Srinagar, May 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, and other Hurriyat leaders and organizations have paid glowing tributes to the youth martyred by Indian troops in Pulwama district, today.

The troops martyred the youth during a cordon and search operation in Panzgam area of the district.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar said the way world powers and human rights groups keep watching the bloody onslaught on Kashmiris by the Indian forces is shameful and a humanitarian tragedy. »

Srinagar, May 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has discussed at length the prevailing political situation of Jammu and Kashmir, with reference to the ongoing movement for right to self-determination.

The APHC in an extraordinary meeting of Majlis Shura convened by Chairman Syed Ali Gilani at Hyderpora in Srinagar took a serious note of the broad discussion, opinions and proposals put forward by Shura members. »

Srinagar, May 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the authorities continue to clamp curfew in Bhaderwah town of Doda district of Jammu region for the third consecutive day, today.

The curfew was imposed in the town following massive protests against the cold-blooded murder of a Muslim, Nayeem Ahmed Shah, by Hindu extremists on Wednesday night.

On the fateful night, a group of three persons was heading towards their native Mohalla Qilla area of Bhaderwah along with their cattle when they were fired upon at 2 am by cow vigilantes near Nalti village. In the attack, an elderly Muslim Nayeem Ahmad Shah was killed on spot while his associates managed to escape with minor injuries. »

Srinagar, May 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, residents of Mantrigam area in Bandipora district, today, held a protest demonstration, seeking whereabouts of a missing teacher.

29-year-old Mushtaq Ahmad Lone of Shiekhpora, Mantrigan, has been missing for the past six days.

The protesters including the family members of the missing teacher asked the police to speed up the efforts to trace him.

As per his relatives, Mushtaq Ahmad Lone left home for duty at Government Higher Secondary School Chuntimulla Arin, Bandipora, but has not returned home till date. »

Srinagar, May 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, residents of Dalipora area of Pulwama have said that Indian troops used a civilian Rayees Ahmed Dar and his brother as human shields during a cordon and search operation.

Rayees Ahmed Dar was martyred and his brother, Younis Ahmed Dar, was injured in the firing of the troops during a cordon and search operation on Thursday. The 55-year-old Rayees Ahmed Dar led prayers at the local mosque in Dalipora and taught children Quran in the evenings.

“He was the son every parent would be proud of,” said a neighbour. “It is heart-wrenching that he has been cruelly snatched from his parents,” he added. »

Srinagar, May 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL) has strongly condemned the arrest of its Chairman, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, by Indian police in Islamabad town.

A JKPL spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the police arrested Mukhtar Ahmad Waza from his residence and lodged him in Sherbagh police station in Islamabad town. He said Mukhtar Waza is suffering from various ailments and the detention would further deteriorate his condition. »

Srinagar, May 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the family of a civilian, Ishtiaq Ahmad Wani, who was killed during a cordon and search operation in Hendew area of Shopian, has said that their son was shot dead by Indian troops in custody.

Ishtiaq Ahmad Wani, 24, was killed by the troops during a cordon and search operation in Hendew on Thursday.

Ishtiaq as per the family was a simple farmer and was arrested first and then killed in cold blood. »
