Kashmiris being victimized for their political beliefs

Srinagar, May 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh acts of state terrorism martyred four Kashmiri youth in Pulwama and Baramulla districts, today.

The troops martyred three youth, Showkat Ahmed Dar, Irfan Ahmed and Muzaffar Ahmed, during a cordon and search operation in Panzgam area of Pulwama district in the wee hours, today. The troops also blasted a house in the area with explosive material. The troops martyred another youth during a similar operation in Hatlangoo area of Sopore in Baramulla district. Forceful demonstrations erupted at Panzgam against the killing of the youth. Indian forces’ personnel fired pellets and teargas shells to disperse the protesters, triggering clashes. The occupation authorities snapped internet service in Awantipora and its adjoining areas and in Sopore town. The authorities continued to suspend train service in south Kashmir for the 2nd consecutive day, today.

The APHC Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, presiding over an extraordinary meeting of Majlis Shoora of Hurriyat at Hyderpora in Srinagar, today, paid glowing tributes to all Kashmiri martyrs including those martyred by Indian troops during the past few days in different areas. He said that the Kashmiri people were engaged in a legitimate democratic and political movement of right to self-determination but were being victimized for their genuine political beliefs.

The Martyrdom Week commenced, today, with the recitation of holy Quran and special prayers at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar and all the district and tehsil headquarters of Awami Action Committee. The Martyrdom Week is being observed to pay tributes to prominent Hurriyat leaders, Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq and Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone as well as victims of Hawal massacre on their martyrdom anniversaries.

On the other hand, the family of a civilian, Ishtiaq Ahmad Wani, who was killed by Indian troops during a cordon and search operation in Hendew area of Shopian on Thursday, has said that their son was shot dead by Indian troops in custody. The residents of Dalipora area of Pulwama said that the troops used a civilian Rayees Ahmed Dar and his brother as human shields during a cordon and search operation. Rayees Ahmed Dar was killed and his brother was injured in the firing of the troops on Thursday.

The occupation authorities booked the illegally detained Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front leader, Noor Muhammad Kalwal, under draconian law, Public Safety Act and lodged him at Mattan Jail in Islamabad district, today. The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League in a statement issued in Srinagar condemned the arrest of party Chairman, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, by Indian police in Islamabad town.

The authorities continued to clamp curfew in Bhaderwah town of Doda district of Jammu region for the third consecutive day, today. The curfew was imposed in the town following massive protests against the cold-blooded murder of a Muslim, Nayeem Ahmed Shah, by Hindu extremists on Wednesday night. The Chairman of Kishtwar Majlis-e-Shora Committee, Farooq Ahmed Kitchloo, and Islamic religious scholars from Rajouri and Poonch demanded fair investigation into the killing.
