Srinagar, May 19 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a member of pro-India Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was critically injured after being shot at by unknown gunmen in Kulgam district on Sunday evening.

Police sources said that Mohammed Jamal Butt was fired upon by unidentified gunmen outside his home in Zangalpora village of the district. »

Tributes paid to Molvi Farooq, Ghani Lone

Srinagar, May 19 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq while describing the situation in Kashmir as painful has said that every effort is being made on part of India to stifle the Kashmiris’ voice for freedom.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said this while addressing a seminar held at forum’s Rajbagh office in Srinagar, today, to pay tributes to prominent Hurriyat leaders, Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq and Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone as well as victims of Hawal massacre on their martyrdom anniversaries. He said a spree of killing, arrests and harassment is going on in the garb of cordon and search operations and even peaceful political activities of resistance leadership are being restricted by the dint of gun. He hoped that the new government, to be installed in New Delhi as a result of fresh elections, would revisit the past five-year policy of the previous government on Kashmir. Besides others, the seminar was addressed by Hurriyat leaders Professor Abdul Ghani Butt, Bilal Ghani Lone, Engineer Hilal Ahmad War and Masroor Abbas. »

Srinagar, May 19 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai has paid rich tributes late Mirwaiz Muhammad Farooq, Khawja Abdul Ghani Lone and the martyrs of Hawal on their martyrdom anniversaries.

Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at his residence in Srinagar on 21st of May in 1990. More than 70 mourners were killed in Hawal area of the city when Indian troops opened fire on his funeral procession. On the same day, in 2002, Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone was killed by unknown assailants when he was returning from Eidgah after addressing a public gathering. »

Srinagar, May 19 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a delegation of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference visited Pulwama and Shopian districts to express sympathies with the families whose sons and relatives were martyred by the Indian troops during the cordon and search operations.

The delegation comprising Ghulam Nabi Sumhji, Bilal Ahmad Sidqui, Molvi Bashir Irfani, Ghazi Manzoor and Zahid Gulzar visited Tehab, Karimabad and Panzgam areas of South Kashmir and paid rich tributes to the martyrs. They said India is reluctant to resolve Kashmir dispute by accepting right to self-determination as a most peaceful and democratic formula. »

Jammu, May 19 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, an indefinite curfew continued in Bhaderwah town for the fourth consecutive day, today, against the killing of an elderly man by cow vigilantes in the Nalthi area of the town in Doda district.

Nayeem Ahmed Shah, a resident of Qillah Mohallah, Bhaderwah, was shot dead by cow vigilantes during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. The incident triggered protests in the town with people demanding immediate identification and arrest of the killers. The authorities were forced to impose an indefinite curfew and a huge contingent of forces was deployed in Bhaderwah. »

Srinagar, May 19 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a delegation led by senior APHC leader and the President of Anjuman Shari Shian, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi visited the residence of martyred youth, Arshad Ahmad Dar, at Chanabal Pattan in Baramulla district and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.

The 23-year-old youth, Arshad Ahmed Dar, who was injured in Indian forces’ violent action on 13th May at Chanabal in Pattan area of Baramulla district, succumbed to his injuries at Soura Institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar, on May 16. »

Srinagar, May 19 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, former High Court Judge Justice (Retd) Hasnain Masoodi has demanded the Indian authorities to repeal SROs [Statutory Rules and Orders] 149 and 313, saying fundamental right of access to justice is being denied to people in every nook and corner of the Kashmir Valley.

As per SRO-149 of 2019 and SRO-313 of 2019, the cases of the people detained under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Prevention of Terrorist Act have been ordered to be dealt with exclusively by a special court at Srinagar. »
