Widespread protests held across valley
Srinagar, May 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops martyred prominent mujahid commander, Zakir Musa along with his associate during a gunfight in Dadsara Tral area of Pulwama district, today.

Zakir Musa was a close associate of renowned martyred commander, Burhan Muzaffar Wani. The killings triggered anti-India protest demonstrations in Tral and adjoining areas. The identity of the other martyr could not be ascertained, as yet.

As the news about the killing of Zakir Musa spread, widespread protests were held in different parts of the valley against the killing. Besides various parts of Srinagar, protests were also held in Trehgam village of Kupwara district and Sopora area of Baramulla district. Students of the University of Kashmir also gathered outside Zakoora campus to protest against the killing.
In Rahmoo, Rajpora, Kakapora, Malangpora villages of Pulwama district pro-freedom Taranas are being played inside mosques. Indian troops used brute force and fired pellets and teargas shells on the protesters in many areas. »

Rich tributes paid to two Kulgam martyrs

Srinagar, May 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, has denounced the naked use of military might by India to suppress the political will and voice of the Kashmiri people.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar demanded a high-level probe into the extrajudicial killings, random arrests and massacres in the garb of cordon and search operations by Indian forces across the territory. The APHC Chairman said that India could not force the people of occupied Kashmir into submission of their right to self-determination through aggression. He said sooner or later New Delhi shall have to accept Kashmiris’ legitimate demand for right to self-determination. »

Srinagar, May 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai has demanded unconditional release of Kashmiri political prisoners before the Eid-ul-Fitr.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar said traditionally states all over the world release the prisoners on this occasion. “But in Kashmir this tradition has no place even for political prisoners and the tragedy is even the arrest spree continues even in this holy month of Ramadan. »

Srinagar, May 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, at least two civilians were injured in an explosion near Awantipora police station in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, today.

Unidentified persons hurled a grenade towards Awantipora police station. However, the grenade exploded outside the boundary wall, causing injuries to two civilians. The injured have been admitted in a hospital.

Srinagar, May 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and other Hurriyat leaders and organizations have paid rich tributes to the two Kashmiri youth martyred by Indian troops in Kulgam district, yesterday.

The troops martyred the youth, Zahid Ahmad Mantoo and Irfan Manzoor during a cordon and search operation in Gopalpora area of the district. »

Srinagar, May 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, two girls died while another sustained critical injuries after they came under a mudslide in Sopore town.

The girls, Shoki Ashraf Wagay, Shahista Farooq Rathar and Sabreena, were passing when suddenly mudslide hit and injured them critically at Hardshiva in the town. They were evacuated by locals and passersby to sub district hospital Sopore where doctors declared Shoki Ashraf Wagay and Shahista Farooq Rathar brought dead. Sabreena was later referred to Srinagar for specialized treatment. »

Srinagar, May 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the bullet-riddled dead body of a civilian was recovered in Pulwama district, today.

The body of Zahoor Ahmed Sheikh was recovered from Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Naira-Tahab area of the district. He was the brother of a prominent freedom activist and an active member of Hizbul Mujahideen, Irfan Ahmed Sheikh.

As per reports, Zahoor was abducted and killed by the Indian armed agents.

Srinagar, May 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, has said it is moral and political obligation of the UN to resolve the Kashmir dispute at the earliest and till its final settlement ensure the Kashmiris’ right to live with liberty and dignity.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said expressed grave concern over the use of military might by India to suppress the political will and voice of the Kashmiri people. He demanded a high level probe into the extrajudicial killings, random arrests, ruthless killings, maiming and blinding by pellets and bullets in the nook and corner of the territory at the hands of Indian forces and violation of the Kashmiri prisoners’ rights in jails. »

Srinagar, May 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League (JKML) has said that the authorities are prolonging the illegal detention of its Chairman, Masarrat Aalam Butt.

A JKML spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Masarrat Aalam Butt was not produced before the court, the other day. He said that this was done to prolong the detention of Alam even as the High Court had quashed his 37th detention order issued under draconian law, Public Safety Act, and ordered his release. »
