Rich tributes paid to two Kulgam martyrs

Srinagar, May 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, has denounced the naked use of military might by India to suppress the political will and voice of the Kashmiri people.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar demanded a high-level probe into the extrajudicial killings, random arrests and massacres in the garb of cordon and search operations by Indian forces across the territory. The APHC Chairman said that India could not force the people of occupied Kashmir into submission of their right to self-determination through aggression. He said sooner or later New Delhi shall have to accept Kashmiris’ legitimate demand for right to self-determination.

Hurriyat leaders including Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Abdul Samad Inqilabi and Zafar Akbar Butt, in their statements issued in Srinagar paid rich tributes to the two Kashmiri youth martyred by Indian troops in Kulgam district, yesterday. They said that the Kashmiri youth were rendering their lives for a sacred cause and their sacrifices would not be allowed to go waste. Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai demanded unconditional release of all Kashmiri political prisoners before Eid-ul-Fitr.

APHC leaders Yasmeen Raja, Bilal Siddiqi and Molvi Bashir Ahmad as well as a delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement visited the families of martyred youth in Shopian and Kulgam areas and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families.

The Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League in a statement said that the occupation authorities were prolonging the illegal detention of party Chairman, Masarrat Aalam Butt, and not releasing him even the High Court had quashed his 37th detention order issued under draconian law, Public Safety Act.

At least two civilians were injured when unidentified persons hurled a grenade towards Awantipora police station in Pulwama district, today. Another grenade attack was carried out on a Central Reserve Police Force bunker at Tagore Hall in Srinagar.

The bullet-riddled dead body of a civilian, Zahoor Ahmed Sheikh, was recovered in Naira-Tahab area of Pulwama district, today. The deceased was a brother of prominent freedom activist and an active member of Hizbul Mujahideen, Irfan Ahmed Sheikh. As per reports, Zahoor was abducted and killed by the Indian armed agents. Two girls died while another sustained critical injuries after they came under a mudslide in Hardshiva area of Sopore town.
