Srinagar, May 27 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani has called for a complete shutdown in Shopian district and its peripheral areas on Thursday to commemorate the gruesome incident of rape and murder of Aasyia and Neelofer by the Indian forces on 30th of May 2009.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said Jammu and Kashmir being a heavily deployed military occupied zone in the world, has become most vulnerable place to protect life, honour and especially the chastity of womenfolk.

Recalling the painful incident, the APHC chairman termed it a heinous crime against humanity and expressed dismay on the dubious and malicious role played by the law enforcement agencies and legal authorities with regard to making vain efforts to trample down the eyewitnesses and other credentials of this case.

Demanding a high-level probe by the United Nations Human Rights Commission, he said the rape and murder of the duo sisters was committed in the broad-daylight, but culprits are still at large, which speaks volumes about the Indian designs to use rape of women as a war strategy.

Expressing his grave concern on the heavy military presence in Jammu and Kashmir, the veteran leader said human rights violations and military presence, having strong correlation needs a serious notice by the United Nations Human Rights Commission to help resolve Kashmir dispute and bring an end to the present miserable and volatile situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
