Srinagar, May 27 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Mohammed Ashraf Sehrai has reiterated his demand for immediate and unconditional release of all illegally detained Kashmiri political detainees before Eid-ul-Fitr.

Mohammed Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar said such arbitrary detentions are political vendetta and the authorities have no legal and moral justification to prolong their detentions.

He said majority among these political prisoners are in preventive custody and are without any trial and others whose cases are in courts are deliberately not taken for the hearings on one pretext or another.

He said an anti-people policy has been adopted and a complete military approach is being implemented. “Innocent civilians are being targeted and we are seeing highest number of casualties from last two years in particular.

Sehrai said Kashmir dispute can be resolved only if there is a serious and comprehensive realisation from the Indian government to address it. For that the Indian government needs to accept Kashmir a political problem.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat leader, Mushtaq-ul-Islam in a statement in Srinagar denounced the continued night raids carried by the Indian forces, thrashing and arbitrary arrests of youth in Soibugh Budgam and in the length and breadth of Kashmir.

He strongly condemned the authorities for unleashing terror against peaceful civilians in Soibugh area, saying detentions, arrests, intimidations, night raids and harassment cannot deter Kashmiris from pursuing their freedom movement.

The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement (JKPM) Mir Shahid Saleem addressing a function at Thanamandi in Rajouri district condemned the flagrant human rights violations across the disputed territory. He said Kashmir has been turned into a police state where all basic and fundamental rights of the people are being violated.

He demanded release of all political Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders and activists before Eid-ul-Fitr.
