Unknown gunmen fired upon the civilian Farooz Ahmad Gojri after barging into his house in Zaloora area of Sopore, leaving him injured. »

Srinagar, May 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Awami Action Committee (AAC), headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has paid rich tributes to prominent Kashmir intellectual, Ambassador Muhammad Yousuf Buch, who passed away in New York, a few days ago.

The ACC held a condolence meeting at its headquarters at Mirwaiz Manzil, Rajouri Kadal, in Srinagar said that Ambassador Buch was a close aide of Muhajir-e-Milat, Mufasir-e-Quran Maulana Muhammad Yousuf Shah (RA). It said, the deceased played a pivotal role towards the Kashmiris’ struggle for right to self-determination and deserved richest tributes for his great contributions that will always be remembered. »

Srinagar, May 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir Chairman, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai while remembering the rape-and-murder victims, Aasiya and Nilofar on their 10th martyrdom anniversary said that they lost their chastity and life only because they belonged to an oppressed territory.

Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, termed, the 30th may 2009 Shopian incident as a great tragedy. He said the incident is not a case of isolation; it is a leaf out of the history of gravest human rights abuses and absolute impunity. He paid his highest homage to the two sisters. »

Clashes between students, troops

Srinagar, May 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism martyred two Kashmiri youth during a cordon and search operation in Kukarnag area of Islamabad district, today.

The killings triggered intensive clashes between the local youth and the forces’ personnel. In another incident, a teen age boy was killed and another injured after a mortar shell went off in Bandipora district. The boys were playing in an open field when suddenly a mortar shell of Indian army exploded in Gurez area of the district.

The Joint Resistance Leadership in a statement issued in Srinagar strongly condemned the extension of judicial remand of illegally detained Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik by a National Investigation Agency court upto July 7. The JRL said that the illegal detention of Muhammad Yasin Malik was being prolonged in violation of fundamental human rights. »

Srinagar, May 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a delegation of Young Men’s League led by its chairman, Imtiyaz Ahmad Reshi, visited Shopian to express solidarity with the family members of rape and murder victims, Aasiya and Nilofar in connection with the anniversary of the tragedy.

The delegation offered fateha for the victim women. Imtiaz Reshi who was accompanied by party leader Shakeelur Rehman on the occasion said the sacrifices offered by Aasiya and Nilofar would not be allowed to go in vein.

He said India is using rape as an instrument to crush freedom sentiment of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that Shopian incident was a grave crime and urged the United Nations to probe it through a tribunal and punish the Indian troops involved in the heinous crime.

Hurriyat leader, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori in a statement also expressed condolences with the family members of Aasiya and Nilofar. The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim conference, Shabbir Ahmed Dar in a statement also remembered the innocent victims of Indian state terrorism.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat leader Farooq Ahmed Tawheedi visited the residence of martyred Zakir Musa at Noorpora in Tral area of Pulwama district. He offered condolences with the bereaved family.

Srinagar, May 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, clashes broke out between Indian troops and protesters in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district against a cordon and search operation (CASO) launched by the troops on Tuesday morning.

The operation was launched by the troops in Bongam area of Karimabad village. Immediately after the cordon, a group of youth assembled near the site and staged anti-India protests. The forces used force and fired teargas shells on the protestors triggering clashes. The youth pelted stones on the troops. »

Srinagar, May 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has strongly condemned the extension of judicial custody of illegally detained Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik by a National Investigation Agency court upto July 7.

The JRL in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the illegal detention of Muhammad Yasin Malik was being deliberately prolonged under political vendetta in violation of basic principles of democracy and humanity. »

Srinagar, May 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the local police have filed a charge sheet against an Indian army’s lieutenant colonel in a molestation case.

The case was registered at the Safapora police station after a Mumbai-based Indian woman alleged that the army officer molested her at the Manasbal Cantonment in Gandarbal, in January last year.

During the course of investigation, statements of witnesses were recorded and site plan was prepared of sexual harassment with evidences against the officer, says the charge-sheet. »

Srinagar, May 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a 16-year-old boy was killed and another teenager injured after a mortar shell went off in Bandipora district.

The teenage boys identified as Amjid Ahmad Mapnoo and Istiyaq Ahmad Lone were injured when they were playing in an open field when suddenly a mortar shell of Indian army exploded at Chuntiwari– Bagtore in Gurez area of the district.

They were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital where Amjid was declared brought dead by the doctors while Istiyaq was referred to Srinagar hospital for advanced treatment.
