OIC Contact Group on J&K holds meeting

Jeddah, May 30 (KMS): The Secretary General of Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Dr Yousef Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, expressing deep concern over the grave situation in occupied Kashmir has called for an immediate cessation of Indian oppression and atrocities in the territory.

The OIC Secretary General said this while presiding over the meeting of the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir in Jeddah ahead of the 14th Islamic Summit. He urged India to peacefully resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the wishes of Kashmiri people and the UN Security Council Resolutions.

The members of the OIC Contact Group expressed their complete solidarity with the valiant struggle of the Kashmiri people. They reaffirmed their resolve to remain the voice of the Kashmiris at the international stage. The conclusions of the meeting were adopted and would be submitted for appropriate action of the Council of Foreign Minister of the OIC.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister of Turkey, Mevlut Cavusoglu, has said that Turkey is deeply concerned with the security and humanitarian situation in occupied Kashmir. His remarks came after a meeting of Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Council of Foreign Ministers in Jeddah where he will hand over Turkey’s presidency of the OIC to Saudi Arabia.
