Srinagar, May 30 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, has expressed serious concern over the inhuman treatment meted out to the Kashmiri prisoners by the authorities of Kathua Jail in Jammu.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “The harassment and inhuman treatment of the detainees belonging to Kashmir valley should be stopped forthwith.” He said Kathua jail authorities are harassing the Kashmiri prisoners in every possible way.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai said some delegations, whose sons are languishing in Kathua jail, reported that the jail officials and staff members always harass the Kashmiri prisoners. He said the Kashmiris lodged in different jails are not criminals but political prisoners who are being subjected to detention for their political conviction and belief.

Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman said the harassment and inhuman treatment is against the international laws and it is the worst kind of human rights violation which doesn’t have any legal or moral justification. He appealed to the world human rights groups to take serious notice of the matter and raise this issue with the jail authorities.
