Srinagar, June 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court has directed the authorities of Udhampur Jail in Jammu to provide medical treatment to illegally detained Patron of Muslim Deeni Mahaz, Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo.

A division bench of Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Rashid Ali Dar directed the jail authorities to ensure that complete medical treatment and assistance is given to Dr Fakhtoo as and when he complains of any medical problem.

The court ordered if Dr Fakhtoo complains of medical problem for which treatment cannot be arranged at the Udhampur Jail, the prison authorities shall ensure that he is taken to the nearest available medical health centre.

The court left it open to Director General of Prisons to take a view on submission by Fakhtoo’s counsel, advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom, which the court has recorded on May 30, 2019, with regard to shifting of the applicant to the Jammu Central Jail.

The court said it had also directed the senior Additional Advocate General (AAG) to place on record the complete details of the doctors and medical experts who have examined Dr Fakhtoo and made recommendations in his record.

Dr Fakhtoo, the court said, was produced before it through video conferencing which was arranged in the district court, Udhampur, on June 04.
