India asked to respect Kashmiris’ self-determination

Geneva, July 08 (KMS): Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in its second report on Jammu and Kashmir released in Geneva today has highlighted serious human rights violations by the Indian forces and patterns of impunity in occupied Kashmir.

India has been urged in the report to fully respect its international human rights law obligations in occupied Kashmir including the right of self-determination of the people. It asked the Human Rights Council to consider the findings of this report, including the possible establishment of a commission of inquiry to conduct a comprehensive independent international investigation into allegations of human rights violations in Kashmir. »

Islamabad, July 08 (KMS): Pakistan on Monday welcomed the second report of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) on Jammu and Kashmir urging respect for the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination as protected under international law.

“We again welcome the OHCHR’s recommendation for the establishment of a Commission of Inquiry (COI) to investigate the gross and systematic human rights violations in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir,” a Foreign Office statement said. »

Indian troops killed 1,020 since July 2016

Srinagar, July 08 (KMS): Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control commemorated the third martyrdom anniversary of popular Kashmiri youth leader, Burhan Muzaffar Wani with the renewed pledge to continue Kashmiri martyrs’ mission, against all odds.

Complete shutdown marked by curfew and other restrictions was observed across occupied Kashmir, today. Call for the strike was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership to pay tributes to Burhan Wani, his associates and other martyrs of 2016 mass uprising. Burhan Wani was martyred by Indian troops in a fake encounter in Kokernag area of Islamabad district on this day in 2016. The Indian authorities snapped internet services in Islamabad, Pulwama, Kulgam, Shopian and other districts and suspended the train service across the Valley. »

The event was organized by APHC-AJK chapter and was attended by a large number of people. New Delhi, July 08 (KMS): A court of the infamous Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA) in New Delhi once again sent illegally detained Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik, to judicial custody for another month, today.

Yasin Malik will be again presented before the said court on August 7, 2019. The ailing JKLF chairman was shifted back to Tihar Jail after court hearing. »
