Brussels, July 08 (KMS): The Chairman of Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU), Ali Raza Syed, has lauded the office of United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights for its latest report on Human Rights violations in occupied Kashmir.

Ali Raza Syed in a statement issued in Brussels said the large scale violations of human rights is a fact and there should be an international investigation by an independent fact-finding mission into severe violence in Kashmir.

He said the international community should play its role for prevention of human rights violation in light of the UN’s report and for just and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute.

The Kashmir Council EU Chairman said the UN report is an internationally recognized proof of severe situation of human rights in Kashmir as it has revealed that Indian forces are directly involved in human rights violations in the occupied territory.

Ali Raza Syed pointed out that the report, which also highlighted other brutal acts of Indian forces including ruthless violence during research operations, physical intimidation and assault, invasion of privacy, arbitrary and unlawful detention, collective punishment and destruction of private property, targeting protesters, should be covered by the international media.

It is important to mention that the UN office for human rights also issued a similar report on human rights in occupied Kashmir last year emphasizing on international investigation into human rights violations in Kashmir.
