Srinagar, July 13 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed, today, to mark the martyrdom anniversary of the 22 Kashmiris who were shot dead by the troops of Dogra Maharaja in Srinagar on this day in 1931.

Call for the shutdown has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership. All shops and business establishments are closed while traffic is off the road.

On this day in 1931, the troops of Dogra Maharaja had killed 22 Kashmiris, one after the other, outside Central Jail in Srinagar during the court proceedings against one Abdul Qadeer who had asked Kashmiri people to defy the Dogra rule. »

Restrictions in Srinagar to prevent march

Srinagar, July 13 (KMS): Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the world over observed Kashmir Martyrs’ Day, today, to reiterate the pledge to continue the mission of their martyrs till the achievement of the inalienable right to self-determination.

The day was marked by complete shutdown in occupied Kashmir. The occupation authorities imposed restrictions in Srinagar by deploying Indian troops and police personnel in strength to prevent a march towards Naqashband Sahib in Srinagar where the martyrs of 13th July are buried.

Call for the shutdown and the march was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership to pay tributes to the Kashmiri martyrs. While the All Parties Hurriyat Chairman Syed Ali Gilani is under house detention since 2010, the authorities also placed the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, under house arrest. The Mirwaiz was scheduled to lead a procession from Srinagar’s historic Jamia Masjid to the Martyrs’ Graveyard at Naqashband Sahib. The Hurriyat forum in a statement denounced the authorities for imposing restrictions in Srinagar and placing the Mirwaiz under house arrest. The authorities also suspended train service in the occupied territory. »

Jammu, July 13 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM) has paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of July 13, 1931 and all those who became victims of oppression during the last seventy two years of political struggle.

The JKPM organized a function in Rajouri area of Jammu region in connection with the Martyrs’ Day. Addressing on the occasion, APHC leader and the JKPM Chairman, Mir Shahid Saleem, said that it was oppression and suppression unleashed by the Dogra rulers that led to the historic revolt of 13th July 1931, which resulted into the massacre of 22 innocent Kashmiris. »

Srinagar, July 13 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai has expressed concern over stopping of ambulances on highways frequently to allow Indian Army or Amarnath yatra convoys to pass first.

Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar termed the authorities’ action as inhuman and unforgivable.

He said from last few days several videos have gone viral on social media and also reported by some electronic media houses that the forces’ personnel are not only stopping civilian traffic but even ambulances ferrying critical patients are not allowed to proceed. »

Islamabad, July 13 (KMS): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter held a conference in Islamabad, today, to pay tributes to the Kashmiri martyrs of July 13, 1931 on their martyrdom anniversary.

Twenty-two Kashmiris were martyred, one after the other, outside Central Jail in Srinagar on July 13, 1931, by the troops of Dogra Maharaja during the court proceedings against one Abdul Qadeer who had asked the Kashmiri people to defy the Dogra rule.

Addressing the conference, the speakers termed the 13th July 1931 as an important milestone. They said that the sacrifices being rendered by the Kashmiri people were the continuation of the mission of the martyrs of the July 13, 1931. »

Srinagar, July 13 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, an 8-year-old student was injured after he was deliberately hit by an Indian Army vehicle in Ganderbal district.

The boy, Fridous Ahmed Sheikh, sustained injuries after being hit by an army vehicle – part of the army convoy – when he was on way to his school in Kunan Gund area of the district. Following the incident, the army vehicle fled from the spot. »

The Hurriyat forum in a statement issued in Srinagar deplored that as per schedule, the Mirwaiz had to lead a procession from Srinagar’s historic Jamia Masjid to the Martyrs’ Graveyard at Naqashband Sahib to pay glowing tributes to the martyrs but it was foiled through military might. »
