Barcelona, July 14 (KMS): A huge rally and a signature camp for solidarity with the oppressed people of occupied Kashmir were held in Barcelona, the city of Spain on Saturday.
Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider also participated in both the events. A large number of people from different walks of life attended the rally organized by Nida-e-Kashmir (Voice of Kashmir) led by Raja Mukhtar Soni on the occasion of Kashmir Martyrs Day.
Holding placards and banners, the participants of the rally raised slogans in favour of the people of occupied Kashmir. They marched on the streets of Barcelona’s central area and pledged to continue their support to the people of Kashmir struggling for right to self determination.
Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU) also organized one-day camp in connection with its widespread awareness movement on Kashmir’s issue titled ‘One Million Signature Campaign’ in Barcelona city on Saturday. During the signature camp, a large number of the Spanish people made their signature in favour of the oppressed people of Kashmir during this move.
On the occasion Chairman Kashmir Council EU Ali Raza Syed, who is organizer of the signature campaign, said, response of the people during the signature move in Barcelona was very encouraging. He said, the Council has already organized successful camps in connection with the signature campaign in the different EU countries and a massive number of people showed their positive response in the context.
The EU based campaign was first launched in Belgium a few years ago and so far, a large number the people in the different European countries have signed the documents. Local NGOs and social activists in different European countries also supported the motivation of move and held camps in the context in the host countries.
The basic aim of the EU based signature drive is to collect a million signatures in order to highlight the conflict of Kashmir and pressurize New Delhi to stop the human rights abuses perpetrated by the Indian forces in the Indian held Kashmir (IHK).
Another gathering was also held by Kashmir Council EU in Brussels in connection with Martyrs’ Day. Presiding over the meeting, the senior leader of Kashmir Council EU Ch Khalid Mahmood Joshi paid great tribute to the martyrs of Kashmir. The speakers of the gathering urged international community especially the United Nation (UN) and EU to stop human rights abuses in IHK and take necessary steps for a suitable and peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue in accordance with wishes of people of Kashmir.
