JI aged leader arrested under PSA

Srinagar, July 17 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism martyred a Kashmiri youth in Sopore town, today.

The youth identified as Adnan Channa was killed by the troops during a cordon and search operation in Gund Brath area of the town. The martyr was a resident of Old Town, Baramulla. The killing of Adnan Channa triggered shutdown in Sopore and Baramulla towns. The locals took to the streets and held anti-India protests against the killing. The authorities suspended internet services and closed all educational institutions in Sopore and Baramulla.

Indian troops also launched cordon and search operations in Srinagar, Baramulla, Bandipore, Pulwama and Islamabad districts. A youth was injured after police fired pellets on protesters in Wahibugh area of Pulwama. Police arrested another youth in Nowhatta area of Srinagar during the operation. »

Srinagar, July 17 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, senior APHC leader and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir Chairman, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai has urged international human rights organizations to visit the jails in and outside Kashmir to take stock of the plight of Kashmiri prisoners.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar condemned the slapping of draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA) on one Hanif Ahmed Butt and arrest of Ghulam Hassan Shah, Irfan Ahmed and Abdul Majeed by Indian police from the court premises when they appeared for their case hearing. »

Srinagar, July 17 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) has appealed to the justice-loving people of the world to raise their voice against the illegal detention of party Chairman Shabbir Ahmad Shah and other political prisoners of Kashmir, lodged in Indian jails.

The DFP in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, said that Shabbir Shah was being punished only for advocating political rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, so his continuous imprisonment was nothing but political vendetta. »

New Delhi, July 17 (KMS): As many as 71 per cent people feel that press freedom is under threat in India, according to a new poll.

Neta app, a technology platform that helps users rate and review politicians, conducted a poll to get people’s opinion with respect to freedom of press in India.

It found that 71 per cent respondents feel press freedom is threatened in India, 26 per cent feel that freedom of press is adequate, while 3 per cent could not give an opinion. »

SSP Sopore Javed Iqbal talking to media men claimed that the youth was killed during an encounter with the Indian forces. He further said that his body was recovered from the site. The SSP said that search operation is still underway. »

Srinagar, July 17 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian authorities have arrested the aged leader and former General Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami, Ghulam Qadir Lone, under black law, Public Safety Act.

Ghulam Qadir Lone was summoned at Kralgund Police Station of Handwara and was detained under draconian law Public Safety Act. He was then shifted to Mattan Jail. »

Srinagar, July 17 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops launched violent cordon and search operations in Srinagar, Baramulla, Bandipore, Pulwama and Islamabad districts.

Indian police during operation arrested a youth at Jabgaripora in Nowhatta area of Srinagar.

The troops started a violent cordon and search operation in Gund Brath in Sopore. The authorities suspended internet services, shut schools and closed all entry and exit points in Sopore town .The firing in the area is going on till last reports came in.

The troops also launched cordon and search operations in the Malangpora area of Pulwama, Khiram-Srigufwara in Islamabad and Khatana Mohallah in Bandipora district.

Meanwhile, an Indian soldier named Naik Ramandeep Singh (35) died after he fell into a deep gorge in Pharkiyan along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district.
