Srinagar, July 20 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Kashmir Editors Guild (KEG) has taken strong exception to a news report published in The Times of India (ToI) and has decided to take legal recourse against the report.

The said report has raised points questioning the integrity of the members associated with KEG and the Kashmir Press Club (KPC), terming them as “Jehadi Journalists”.

The KEG termed the ToI report, which casts aspersions on Kashmir based journalists, as malicious, propagandistic, motivated and defamatory.

The Kashmir Press Club called the story highly objectionable and said it will be writing a letter of protest to the editor of The Times of India. “Baseless insinuations published in a reputed newspaper like Times of India in fact violate the basic standards and ethics of journalism,” it said.

It seems the story has been filed by the reporter concerned with malafide intent to bring disrepute to the elected journalist members, in particular, and the entire press club, in general, it added.

The Kashmir Working Journalist Association (KWJA) and the Kashmir Journalist Association (KJA) urged the Kashmir Press Club to initiate an inquiry into the irresponsible behaviour of the ToI reporter with the aim to seek answers from him for his irresponsible behaviour.
