Indian police arrest many youth in IOK

Srinagar, July 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, senior resistance leaders Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other Hurriyat leaders have welcomed the offer by US President Donald Trump for mediation between India and Pakistan to resolve the decades old Kashmir dispute.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, said, the US has to play its role for the freedom of Kashmir. He thanked Pakistan for raising the Kashmir issue saying that it was a long-pending dispute and had consumed more than three generations.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq while welcoming the US President’s statement said that being the most affected party, the people of Kashmir wanted an early resolution to the lingering Kashmir conflict.

Other Hurriyat leaders and organizations including Shabbir Ahmed Dar, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Muhammad Iqbal Mir, Engineer Hilal Ahmad War, Mir Shahid Saleem, Imtiyaz Ahmed Reshi, Ghulam Nabi Wasim, Ghulam Nabi War, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front and Democratic Freedom Party in their statements said the Kashmir issue is a potential nuclear threat, which can engulf the entire world at any point of time.

In Washington, Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, the Secretary General of Washington-based World Kashmir Awareness Forum, while reacting to the Trump’s offer for mediation said the Kashmiri American community and the people of Kashmir are happy over the principled stand taken by President Donald Trump on Kashmir dispute.

The Chairman of Kashmir Council Europe Ali Raza Syed in a statement in Brussels said, a peaceful solution of Kashmir dispute is essential for social and economic development in South Asia and the US should play its useful and significant role for this settlement.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s claim that PM Modi had asked him to mediate on Kashmir rocked both houses of Indian parliament, today, with the opposition demanding Modi’s statement on the claim.

Indian police arrested more than twenty youth during house raids in Islamabad and Srinagar areas. India’s National Investigation Agency raided a residential house of cross-LoC businessman, Ghulam Ahmad Wani at Rajpora in Pulwama district. The NIA also carried out raids at Parimpora Fruit Mandi in Srinagar.

On the other hand, Indian troops launched a cordon and search operation in Thur area of Ganderbal district, today.
