Srinagar, July 26 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference (JKMC), Shabbir Ahmed Dar, and Hurriyat leaders Muhammad Iqbal Mir, Imtiaz Ahmad Reshi, Ghulam Nabi Waseem and Ghulam Nabi War have expressed concern over the fresh arrest spree in the territory.

The leaders in their separate statements issued in Srinagar said Indian troops and police personnel were carrying on their unjustified arrest spree in Srinagar, Islamabad, Sopore and other areas.

They said dozens of Kashmiri youth languishing in jails under draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) are not being released despite the fact that the courts have quashed their detention orders. He said the JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, the DFP Chairman, Shabbir Ahmad Shah and the Chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Aasiya Andrabi, remain lodged in New Delhi’s Tihar jail because they are demanding right to self-determination for the Kashmiris.

Hurriyat leaders said the time has come that India should give up its intransigence over Kashmir and come to the negotiation table and resolve the lingering Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
