Srinagar, July 26 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL) has welcomed the US President, Donald Trump’s statement that he is ready to mediate between India and Pakistan for settlement of the Kashmir dispute.

The JKPL Chairman, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, addressing a meeting of his party office-bearers from Islamabad district said Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s request to the US President for mediation on Kashmir is a good sign. He said India is now acknowledging the historical facts and ground realities of Kashmir.

He said it is a moral responsibility of the US and other peace-loving countries to promote peace and development in South Asia which is not possible without settlement of the Kashmir dispute according to the will of the Kashmiri people.

Mukhtar Waza said Hurriyat leadership has long been asking for dialogue at all levels on Kashmir and the people of Kashmir welcome every effort that pushes India and Pakistan in that direction.

The JKPL Chairman thanked Pakistani Prime Minister, Imran Khan, for representing the sentiments of the Kashmiris and appealed to the leaders of both Pakistan and India to come together at the negotiating table and resolve the long-pending Kashmir dispute to ensure peace and stability in the region.
