Srinagar, July 27 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Human Rights Commission has directed the authorities to register a case in the killing of Sopore youth, Junaid Ahmed Khuroo.

Member of the Commission, Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal, recommended that a case be registered into the killing of Junaid Ahmed Khuroo and investigation be conducted by a person of the rank of SSP or higher of Crime Branch.

“It has also been proved that the deceased was killed by the police in custody. Therefore, compensation to the tune of Rs 5.00 lakh be provided to the heirs of the deceased,” the commission in its judgment said.

“If such kinds of acts are put to the task a peaceful life may be extended to the society at large by small efforts of the commission,” the commission judgment reads.

The commission also sent a copy of the judgment to the Chief Secretary with the direction to implement the judgment in letter and spirit while a copy was also sent to the Principal Secretary, Home Department, and Director General of Police for similar necessary action.
