Srinagar, August 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, protests were held in Kargil district over Indian government’s move to make Ladakh a Union Territory.

Complete shutdown was observed in Kargil on the third consecutive day, today, to protest against scrapping of Article 370 and division of occupied Kashmir into two union territories – Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

Call for the protest shutdown was given by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) Kargil, which met at the office of Kargil Council Chief Executive Councillor, Feroz Ahmad Khan.

Meanwhile, indefinite prohibitory orders have been imposed in Kargil, Drass and Sankoo, a press release of the district administration said.

The Kargil district administration also directed that schools and colleges in the area would remain closed till further orders.
