New Delhi, August 16 (KMS): A Delhi court has extended the remand of former member of so-called Kashmir Assembly, Engineer Abdur Rasheed, in the custody of India’s notorious National Investigation Agency (NIA) till August 21 in a case registered against him.

Engineer Rasheed is the first pro-India politician to have been arrested by the NIA in the case. He was earlier questioned in the case in 2017 and again summoned last week and was arrested.

Special Judge extended the custody after the NIA said that there were serious charges against him and it needed to question him further.

Advocate Ankit Sarna, appearing for Engineer Rasheed, opposed the NIA plea and said that his client was already cooperating in the investigation and there was no need of further custodial interrogation.

Engineer Rasheed was arrested on August 9.
