UNSC urged to redeem Kashmiris’ right to self-determination » Kashmir Media Service

Islamabad, August 16 (KMS): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter held a demonstration outside the UN Observer Office in Islamabad, today, urging the United Nations Security Council to take steps for granting the Kashmiris their inalienable right to self-determination.

During the demonstration a memorandum addressed to the UN Secretary General and presented to the office strongly denounced the unprovoked firing of Indian troops on civilian population along the Line of Control in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

On the other hand, prominent activists of South Asia and world in a statement expressing solidarity with the people of occupied Kashmir condemned the inhuman clampdown they are being subjected to. The statement was signed by more than 250 journalists, academics, scholars, artists, activists of South Asian and those who work on South Asia condemned the curtailment of civil liberties, the communication blackout and violent suppression of demonstrations in occupied Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Kashmiris and Iranians held a demonstration in Qom city of Iran against India’s move of changing special status of occupied Kashmir. The protesters raised slogans against India and in favour of Kashmir’s freedom from Indian occupation.
